Frequently Asked Questions
I am brand new to private lessons. Do I have to buy a subscription right away? Not at all. If you are a new student, we recommend booking a one-time, 25-Minute Discovery Session for $60. This gives us a chance to assess your dancing, give you a major technical fix, and map out a training plan before you commit to a full membership.
Can I still buy private lessons one at a time? Yes, you can. We offer a la carte private lessons at our standard professional rate of $120 per hour. However, the vast majority of our students choose to join a Training Hub because it significantly lowers the cost of the lesson and unlocks exclusive perks to speed up your progress.
How does the monthly payment option work? We offer a Pay Monthly Installment Plan to make consistent training as accessible as possible. Please note that while you are billed monthly, this is an installment plan on a 3-month or 12-month tuition contract, not a cancel-anytime month-to-month subscription.
Do my unused private lesson credits roll over to the next month? To ensure you are getting the consistent training you signed up for, lesson credits do not roll over. Your credits are added to your account on the 1st of each month and expire at the end of that same month. This policy keeps you actively dancing and prevents scheduling bottlenecks.
What if I want extra lessons before a big event or competition? Active subscribers get exclusive pricing. If you ever want to book a private lesson outside of your standard monthly allotment, you unlock our Subscriber Add-On Rate of $100 per lesson.
What is the cancellation policy? We require 24 hours of notice to cancel or reschedule a private lesson. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or fail to attend, that lesson credit is forfeited for the month.
Can I pause or freeze my membership if I go on vacation? Because our schedule requires predictability to guarantee your spots, we do not offer membership pauses. However, if you know you will be traveling, we can work with you to front-load or back-load your lessons for that month. You can also utilize your Video Library access and Video Analysis perks to keep training while you are out of town.
Can I share my private lesson credits with my dance partner? Subscriptions are built for individual progress, but you are absolutely welcome to bring a dedicated dance partner to your private lessons at no extra cost. Just keep in mind that personalized perks, like the Skill Tracker and Video Analysis, are structured for the primary account holder.
Can I upgrade or change my membership tier later? You can upgrade your membership tier at any time if you decide you want more private lessons, deeper workshop discounts, or VIP booking priority. Downgrades, however, can only be processed at the end of your current 3-month or 12-month contract cycle.
How do I access my Skill Tracker? Once you enroll in The Circuit or High Voltage, you will receive a private, secure link to your personal Google Doc. Your instructor updates this document within 24 hours of every private lesson, so you can easily pull it up on your phone whenever you are practicing.
Do I need to bring a partner to the workshops or social dances? Most of the time, no! West Coast Swing is a highly social community, and we rotate partners frequently during our standard workshops and social dances. You will always have plenty of people to dance with, whether you come solo or use your monthly Guest Pass to bring a friend. There will be a few exceptions such as a specialized "Trick" workshop, which occasionally require you to sign up with a dedicated partner for safety. We will always clearly state this in the event description beforehand!
What happens if I forget to use my Guest Pass? Guest passes are a fun monthly perk designed to help grow our community, but just like lesson credits, they are "use it or lose it." Unused guest passes do not roll over to the next month, so we highly encourage you to bring someone new to the First Wednesday Social every month!
